On a completely unrelated note, it’s just 13-14 days until the big D-Wave demo, and I can’t wait. The quantum critics can say what they want; they’ll eventually have to admit that what D-Wave has is a 16-qubit quantum computer that blows all others out the window in every important aspect.
Another interesting thing to note is that someone today explained to me what the DNA sequencing problem is. It’s much simpler than I thought, (just hard to explain), and it maps very nicely to Maximum Independent Set (MIS), a problem that D-Wave has been focusing on, since it maps nicely onto the hardware. It looks like there’s more money in solving MIS than I previously thought.
